Complex
objects and principles surround us everyday. As a civilization,
it is important for us to recognize and appreciate these artifacts
that help us develop as a society. This interactive kiosk
asks participants to begin to recognize thesome ofthe beautiful
complexities in our world.
What do
you appreciate?
What should you appreciate?
The simple
objects in the boxes represent greater experiential fields,
inquiries or nodes of our everyday lives. They act as stimulants,
or tools for articulation, helping participants think in a
manner that is more condusive to recognizing both the simple
and complex principles around us.
Participants
are then asked to generate their own observations, using the
supplied empty boxes, blank cards, and random objects. They
are encouraged to contribute their own found objects to the
pool. Participants place an object(s) in the box, identify
and comment on the card, and place their box in the container.
The machine recognizes their contribution and dispenses a
random box from the pool of observations.
By contributing
their thoughts to the system, they are given a previous participant's
observation box.
