| Designed
and constructed for a client's special bonsai tree, this tray.
The slight elevation on the humble tree makes an understated
proclamation of it's significance. The design references Japanese
proportion systems, intersecting clean angled uprights with
a single horizontal grounding plane. The material selection
is deliberate, while the actual materials are simple and natural.
Mostly wood, with steel spans, leather bounding and a glass
base plate. The glass base plate allows the bonsai tree to
float above the ground, as they do in their natural environment,
on a mountain side feeding on the light from all surrounding
angles.
